Not long ago, the Resident Evil series was in a dark place. Resident Evil 6 had been widely slammed by critics and hated by players, and the series went dead for years. Then, with the release of Resident Evil 7, life returned to the franchise, and hope to its fans. Now the momentum has continued with remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, with RE3 passing a huge sales milestone recently.

The Resident Evil 3 Remake has been embraced by most players, especially in the Resident Evil community. Its fast pace and constant action harken back to the original, with new, modern twists as well.

The game is so good in fact, that the largest complaint has been that there is not enough of it. For the full, AAA price tag it has, Resident Evil 3 Remake is very short. It comes packaged with Resident Evil: Resistance, but for many players, those two halves do not make a whole game. Unfortunately, those who want to see RE3 DLC with new characters must get used to disappointment. In a recent interview with Silicon Era, Resident Evil 3 producer Peter Fabiano declared the game a finished product.

Fabiano's answer was in response to a question about DLC and add-ons for Resident Evil 3, leaving no ambiguity. Unless Capcom's plans change in the future, it seems there will be no more of Resident Evil 3. Players must content themselves with finding the hidden secrets already in Resident Evil 3, or take up speedrunning, to squeeze more from this title.

Of course, this does not mean Resident Evil: Resistance will not be getting any further DLC or updates. Resistance was designed from the start to be an ongoing, competitive multiplayer game. The game will still be supported with new content for the foreseeable future. In fact, the latest Resistance mastermind released just last month, taken directly from Resident Evil 3 itself.

Of course, that is not enough for the many players who purchased the game for Resident Evil 3 and not Resistance. The lack of support for Resident Evil 3 is disappointing, especially considering the price and the massive acclaim it has received. Still, just like with the remake of Resident Evil 2, a healthy modding community for the game has manifested. One of the finest is a recent God of War cosplay mod, and others exist that change the game in often hilarious ways.

Resident Evil 3 Remake is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
