Resident Evil fans are having a field day with the Resident Evil 3 remake leaks. The designs for the titular Nemesis, the big bad of Resident Evil 3have inspired some hilarious posts from fans on Reddit, Twitter, and elsewhere online. The cover art design leaked online yesterday and all three images show Nemesis, with one image showing the new versions of Jill and Carlos, the playable characters.

The latest Resident Evil 3 remake leaks make it seem like Capcom is doing another game in the new RE engine, with art reminiscent of this year's Resident Evil 2 remake. This indicates that a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is coming sooner than expected, and before the next numbered sequel in the main RE franchise.

The leaked design for Nemesis has been criticized by fans for its exaggerated features: a pronounced nose and giant Pennywise teeth. Of course, many fans online, critical or not, have found the design to be a meme gold mine. Fans are taking jabs at Nemesis's teeth and nose with memes from Spongebob, Toy Story, and other pop culture meme formats.

These are honestly hilarious, but it stands to wonder whether or not this initial reaction will snowball into a greater issues. Online fans have great power these days, just no further than the Sonic movie redesign for evidence of that. Once more is shown of the game, will the in-game monster fit in that style?

What's most coincidental is how earlier this year Mr. X was a huge meme, and a great source of joke mods from the modding community. This character was added to the remake of Resident Evil 2 and added the mechanic of avoiding or fighting the un-killable stalker who follows players throughout the game. The first time the RE franchise attempted this was with Nemesis in Resident Evil 3, who is now also becoming the inspiration for memes.

It has not been officially confirmed, but it seems highly likely that the RE 3 remake will come out some time in 2020. This is exciting for fans of the series who have never played 3 or could not get themselves to jive with the classic games' tank controls. This comes hot on the heels of Resident Evil 2 being both a financial and critical success for Capcom.

A remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
