The upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake is expected to be very similar to the original Resident Evil 3, albeit with significant visual improvements, better controls, and some gameplay changes to appeal to modern audiences. However, it's possible that the Resident Evil 3 remake will also be making some changes to the game and story, even if they're not all that major. For example, there are some fans who are theorizing that the Resident Evil 3 remake will feature a character who wasn't in the original version of the game.

There's a theory being shared online that Resident Evil 2 gun shop owner Kendo will be in the Resident Evil 3 remake. This theory stems from the recent Resident Evil 2 remake update, which added a letter from Jill Valentine to Kendo's shop. This letter indicates that Jill and Kendo have already crossed paths by the time that the Resident Evil 3 remake takes place, and we may very well see that interaction in the new game.

Those unfamiliar with Resident Evil 3 may be confused by how this could happen. It's because parts of Resident Evil 3 take place before, during, and after the story of Resident Evil 2. Therefore, a meeting between Jill Valentine and Kendo would be possible.

Adding fuel to the fire is the new Resident Evil 2 achievement that players can unlock by finding Jill's letter. Like all other achievements players can unlock on Xbox, this achievement includes an image, this one depicting a bloody Kendo with Jill standing behind him. It's possible that this image was made specifically for the achievement, but it's also possible that it is a screenshot of the Resident Evil 3 remake story. This isn't entirely implausible considering the Resident Evil 3 remake release date is just four months away at the time of this writing.

While it's certainly possible that the Resident Evil 3 remake will feature some changes to the game's story, including the addition of new characters, that can't be determined with 100% certainty at the time of this writing. However, we do know that the Resident Evil 3 remake will feature some major new content elsewhere, specifically with its asymmetric multiplayer mode called Resident Evil: Resistance.

With Resident Evil: Resistance being packed-in with the Resident Evil 3 remake, it really is just icing on the cake and should give the game much more replay value than it would have otherwise. Fans just have to wait a few more months to see how it all comes together.

Resident Evil 3 launches on April 3, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
