At this morning's PlayStation State of Play, Capcom officially confirmed that a remake of Resident Evil 3 is on the way. This confirmation came via a brief Resident Evil 3 trailer, which revealed the game's release date, showed off the new character designs, and more. Despite all that was included in the RE3 trailer, though, actual gameplay footage was notably absent, but a special message from the developer offers a look at the remake in motion for fans that are interested.

This Resident Evil 3 developer video begins with introductions from producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata, and it does not take long before gameplay footage is shown. Specifically, a shot of RE3's protagonist, Jill Valentine, firing on a horde of zombies can be seen at around 25 seconds into the clip, and many players will be happy to see that the game features the same over-the-shoulder camera as the acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake from earlier this year.

Fabiano and Kawata acknowledge this third-person camera directly at around the 1:30 mark, and there is additional Resident Evil 3 gameplay to be seen here as well. Unfortunately, there is no footage of Valentine going up against RE3's Nemesis in the video, but more of the frightening villain is certain to be shared before the game's release date arrives.

As to when that release date will come, the Resident Evil 3 remake is set to launch on April 3, 2020, and the close proximity of that date is certain to have many players very excited. Furthermore, it is now known that RE3 will contain the multiplayer Resident Evil: Resistance, which Capcom revealed several months ago. Indeed, many fans have been under the impression that Resistance was to be an independent title, and it is interesting to learn that it is, in fact, simply Resident Evil 3's multiplayer offering.

While the Resident Evil 3 remake gameplay shown in the video featured here is brief, it will undoubtedly be sufficient for convincing a great number of players to pick up the title. For those fans that are especially excited about the game, the Resident Evil 3 remake Collector's Edition may be of particular interest, and it contains a map, a Jill Valentine figure, and more. However, for those that may still be on the fence about RE3, there is still plenty of time for more gameplay footage to be released and win them over.

Resident Evil 3 launches on April 3, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
