The upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake is set to launch in just about four months, so the game is nearing the end of its development cycle. In case one needed any more evidence of this, the Steam page for the Resident Evil 3 remake has revealed the number of achievements that will be in the game, indicating that they likely have been finalized.

According to the Resident Evil 3 remake Steam page, the game will have 32 achievements. As noted by RelyOnHorror, this is nine achievements less than what the Resident Evil 2 remake launched with earlier this year. This could be an indication that the Resident Evil 3 remake will be shorter than Resident Evil 2, but there is something else to keep in mind when it comes to the RE3 remake achievements.

Resident Evil 2 features two distinct playable characters and multiple scenarios for each one. Considering this, it's not surprising that the game has more achievements than the Resident Evil 3 remake, which mainly follows Jill Valentine throughout the entire thing. It's possible Capcom will let fans play as Carlos a bit more than they did in the original release, but even so, it's unlikely it will be anywhere near the scope of Leon and Claire's separate campaigns.

While some fans may be disappointed at the number of Resident Evil 3 remake achievements since it's less than what was in RE2, there's something else to keep in mind. The Resident Evil 3 remake comes packed-in with the asymmetric multiplayer game Resident Evil: Resistance, which will have its own separate achievement list. Considering this, there should be many more achievements to unlock in Resident Evil 3 remake when taking the multiplayer component into account.

Capcom's decision to separate the achievement lists for the Resident Evil 3 remake and Resident Evil: Resistance is an interesting choice and may indicate that Resistance will get a standalone release as well. Maybe Capcom will even launch it as a free-to-play game alongside Resident Evil 3 remake to ensure that its online multiplayer stays populated. That being said, Capcom hasn't announced any plans to release Resident Evil: Resistance separately, so fans should keep their expectations in check.

We'll find out more about the Resident Evil 3 remake achievements as we get closer to its release date in April.

Resident Evil 3 launches on April 3, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
