Resident Evil 3 has been out for several days, giving players all over the world a new chance to experience Jill Valentine's story in remade glory. While making their way through Raccoon City, veterans or newcomers will have to deal with the ever-present threat of zombies and the relentless Nemesis. However, there are also puzzles which test the player's problem solving skills.

A key part of the Resident Evil series, puzzles have been a staple even since the early games. While not inherently difficult, solving puzzles usually involves backtracking to find clues or key items that bring players back in conflict with various enemies. There's no way around several required puzzles needed to advance the story, but some optional ones can reward useful upgrades that are worth the effort. One of these side tasks involves finding 3 jewels to unlock the subway's clock tower monument early on in Resident Evil 3.

Finding the Jewels

The Red, Blue, and Green jewels are spread throughout different parts of Raccoon City's main street. Players will need to get a lockpick and some bolt cutters before they can grab all the jewels. Be aware that this must be done before Jill gets on the subway train since the area cannot be returned to later.

Red Jewel

The Red Jewel is located in the Moon's Donuts shop. Players should proceed down the empty hallway in the back towards the kitchen. There are no enemies in the room and opening the Fancy Box will reveal the first jewel that Jill can grab.

Blue Jewel

The Blue Jewel can be found in the Resident Evil 3 Supermarket, but requires the bolt cutters to get inside. Once players gain access, another Fancy Box is on the bench directly in front of Jill. Interact with the box to nab the second jewel for the puzzle.

Green Jewel

The final jewel that players can obtain is within Toy Uncle across the street from the Supermarket. The store is normally locked, so Jill can only open the door using her lockpick. After getting inside, check the counter to find one last Fancy Box containing the Green Jewel. At this point, Nemesis is hot on players' heels so they should dodge around or stun the monster before taking the last jewel.

Puzzle Rewards

Once all 3 jewels have been obtained, players can go insert them into the Clock Tower monument and get their rewards. Note that colors don't correspond to specific items and any combination of two jewels will unlock the first and second prizes.
