The Resident Evil 3 remake may not have received as much fanfare as Resident Evil 2's, but it was still met with high praise from players and critics alike. Now fans who missed out on pre-ordering Resident Evil 3 may soon be able to complete their copies of the game.

Resident Evil 3 follows Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira on their journey through zombie and the Nemesis-infested Raccoon City. The Resident Evil remakes have been so well received, with Resident Evil 3 selling 2 million copies in its first week alone, that it's now rumored that Resident Evil 4 will get the remake treatment next, though this has yet to be confirmed by Capcom.

Previously, if fans had pre-ordered Resident Evil 3 for any system, they would have received a special costume set for Jill and Carlos. Specifically, it's a throwback to the two's original appearances in the classic Resident Evil 3, with Jill wearing her iconic tube top and skirt (or skort in the DLC) combo, and Carlos more closely resembling his original character design before being reimagined for the remake.

Currently, players who didn't pre-order RE 3 are locked out of using this costume set with no way to acquire it. However, that may change in the near future, according to a tweet coming from the official Japanese Resident Evil Twitter account. The costume set will be sold as DLC in Japan for 300 yen, or about $2.82 in USD, starting on May 7th. So far there has been no announcement that it will be offered for English-speaking players, but it wouldn't make much sense for Capcom to not take the opportunity to offer this to all audiences. In any case, players will likely have their answer soon.

Unfortunately for fans who were hoping for some DLC with a little more content to it, that may be it for Resident Evil 3. A leaker previously stated that Resident Evil 3's development was fully wrapped up, likely indicating that the title wouldn't be receiving any major story additions like Resident Evil 2 received with Ghost Survivors. However, the bundled Resident Evil Resistance is continuing to see regular updates, with new masterminds and survivors being added to the title.

Resident Evil 3 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
