The remake of Resident Evil 3 came not long after the RE2 Remake was launched, and it's considered a good entry in this latest era of the franchise, although many would say that the game is entirely too short with a lot more focus on action than puzzles. That said, RE3 still holds up as a good remake, and if nothing else, it continues to perpetuate the idea that the series is far from finished. There are also those who aim to keep the franchise alive with mods-a-plenty. One person has managed to modify the game by crossing the RE universe with something even more action-orientated.

Uploading their file to Nexus Mods a few days ago, modder 4Kodda has created an add-on for Resident Evil 3 which puts Jill in a somewhat unusual, though very recognizable, get-up. Essentially, the mod gives Jill the combat helmet and suit of none other than the Doom Slayer, specifically the outfit from Doom Eternal. The add-on seems purely cosmetic, but it's been nicely designed to show that it fits the RE3 character really well. There are even a number of videos posted to the page that show her running around in the suit.

For a game which is quite deadpan, serious and full of action, the modding community certainly seems keen to add some humorous elements into the game. One modder switched out RE3's Carlos for Nemesis, while another person added Claire Redfield from Resident Evil 2 Remake into the game. What 4Kodda's mod does is combine two different, yet equally popular, games into one universe. But what it makes this one just as humorous is the straight-faced way in which Jill just has the Doom Slayer's suit on like it's not out of the ordinary for her.

Resident Evil 3 may be short, but many regard it as one of the best PS4 and PS5 games that can be purchased for under $20. Much of that may be attested to it being so short, or it being somewhat outshone by the might of Resident Evil Village, but it's seemingly being kept alive partly by the modding community

With the Resident Evil: Nemesis Edition rumored to be in the make, it's likely that fans will be hearing more about the game, as speculations about the update begin to spread. It may not be the best game in the franchise, but mods like this show that there is still a dedicated fan base that's committed to either improving the game, or just making it more entertaining.

Resident Evil 3 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
