Every aspect of life has been touched by the coronavirus pandemic and this includes entertainment, which has had to change its practices. The latest game to be impacted by the virus is the remake of Resident Evil 3. The developer and publisher of Resident Evil 3, Capcom, announced that the release of physical copies may be delayed in European countries. This statement has been issued after several nations have taken proactive measures to reduce mass gatherings and encourage social distancing, to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The Resident Evil franchise has been incredibly successful and is a key franchise in the survival-horror genre. The original title was released in 1996 and since then the franchise has managed to retain its acclaimed reputation despite some bumps in the road. After the critical and commercial success of the remake of Resident Evil 2, fans have been eagerly waiting for Resident Evil 3 to get remade. Unfortunately, players who have ordered a physical copy of the game may have to wait a little longer than expected to play the title.

Capcom released an official statement on Twitter that did not guarantee delays, but prepared fans for the eventuality in Europe. The post went on to remind fans to check with their local retailers and the company claimed: "We will do our best to keep you updated on major changes." While some fans will be disappointed at the prospect of waiting longer for Resident Evil 3, these measures won't have been taken lightly and are following the guidance of countries who are attempting to battle a serious pandemic. The statement ended on a sincere note hoping that fans and their families "stay safe", the full statement is below.

Plenty of titles have been impacted by the coronavirus and there is a good chance that other physical releases will experience issues in the coming months. For gamers who want physical copies of games, it seems they will have to be patient as the world adapts to the pandemic, or alternatively they will have to begin to acquire games digitally.

There seems to be plenty of fan service in Resident Evil 3, and there seems to be a range of content added to the originally short title. Whether fans get to play the game on release date or a little later, it looks set to be another thrilling Resident Evil game despite the obstacles that face the launch of the title.

Resident Evil 3 is scheduled to release on April 3, 2020, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
