The Witcher is perhaps more popular than ever, with the legendary novels that started it all, a successful game series, and now a Netflix TV production. This popularity has recently propelled The Witcher memes and fan crossovers with popular franchises, and now a new one has emerged for Resident Evil 2.

Following a mod that let players survive the zombie apocalypse as The Witcher's Ciri instead of Claire Redfield comes a mod that replaces Leon S. Kennedy with none other than the Witcher himself.

This is the latest mod from Wiwilz, who was also behind the Ciri/Claire conversion. Unlike the Ciri mod, however, Geralt comes equipped with facial animations, which should make the game more enjoyable for anyone who installs the mod. However, the mod does have its shortcomings. Due to the nature of the mod, any costume of Leon's other than his Arklay Sheriff outfit will be essentially unusable. This is because the mod essentially removes Leon's head.

PC players of Resident Evil 2 have had plenty of mods to enjoy since its release. Everything from the hilarious mod of replacing Mr. X with Thomas the Tank Engine to pitting Grand Theft Auto's CJ against Big Smoke have been an option for PC players. Thanks to dedicated modders, fans can make Resident Evil 2 look like anything but a zombie apocalypse, or they can amp up the fear factor even more by adding mods that change out Mr. X for Jason Voorhees.

While Geralt's visit to Raccoon City is just a mod, it's not the first time that the character has made the leap to other realms outside of The Witcher. Geralt is also a guest fighter in SoulCalibur 6. His presence in that fighting game seems to have whet the appetites of fans of the fighting genre, as at least one creative person is pushing for Geralt to make the leap to Mortal Kombat 11.

While fans of The Witcher will have to wait until next year to see a continuation of the Netflix series, Resident Evil fans are a little luckier. Capcom recently revealed that Resident Evil 3 would get the remake treatment, and it will be coming out just months from now. While it's ultimately up to the dedication of the modders, it'll be interesting to see if any Witcher mods pop up for that game, too.

Resident Evil 2 is available now for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
