When Resident Evil 2 players first visit the Library in the Raccoon City Police Department in the Leon A scenario, they will fall through the floor, leaving a hole in the walkway that prevents them from exploring other areas. A quick investigation of the library shows a bookshelf that's slightly propped up by a jack, but unfortunately, the Mechanic Jack Handle is missing. In order for players to solve the library jack puzzle and create a makeshift walkway for themselves, they will have to find the Mechanic Jack Handle.

But before players can even worry about getting the Mechanic Jack Handle, they first need to get their hands on the Club Key. The Club Key is located in the boiler room, which is only accessible to Leon. Upon arriving at the boiler room and grabbing the Club Key that's taped on the white marker board, Resident Evil 2 players can then unlock a number of locked doors around the police station.

The door that should interest anyone looking for the Mechanic Jack Handle is is the one that leads to the Records Room, though. The Records Room is located on the west side of the RCPD's first floor, but be weary of enemies like zombies, lickers, and the Mr. X tyrant on the way there.

Use the Club Key on the Records Room door and search the Records Room to find the Mechanic Jack Handle. With this in tow, return to the library and use the Mechanic Jack Handle on the jack. Leon will lower the bookshelf to the floor, and now all of the bookshelves can be dragged along the track to create a bridge of sorts.

Luckily there's no guesswork about what direction to pull the bookshelves. Grab each one by the handle and simply drag them to the right. When this is done, climb up the ladder and use the new path to reach other areas of the Raccoon City Police Department.

Among these new areas is the Clock Tower, which Leon has to travel to in order to get the electronic parts that will in turn allow him to leave the parking garage area. So getting the Mechanic Jack Handle is extremely important for players to actually progress through the game.

Resident Evil 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
