Resident Evil 2: Where to Find the Shotgun

Here is how Resident Evil 2 players can find the shotgun in both of Leon's different campaign scenarios, giving them a distinct advantage against enemies early on.

In Resident Evil 2, it's important to have the best weaponry possible if players hope to survive Raccoon City and its horrors. One of the best weapons players can get early in the game when playing as Leon is the shotgun, but some may not know the quickest way to get their hands on it.

When playing the Leon A scenario, Resident Evil 2 players will want to check out the west side of the Raccoon City Police Department's first floor. Near the Safety Deposit Room is a set of stairs that goes all the way up to the third floor of the police station. Take the stairs to the top and grab the Spade Key off the desk in the third floor room. With the Spade Key, head to the opposite side of the RCPD and in the second floor Art Room, players should find the Weapons Locker Key Card. Take it and return to the Safety Deposit Room.

At the rear end of the Safety Deposit Room is a locker that can only be opened with the key card. Inside is the shotgun and some shells to go along with it. For reference, this is the same room where players can open the storage lockers to get various other goodies, including a hip pouch to increase their inventory space.

If Resident Evil 2 players are playing the Leon B scenario (meaning they beat the game with Claire first), they can get the shotgun almost as soon as they reach the Raccoon City Police Department. They will need to make their way to the Art Room on the second floor, accessible via the fire escape, where they will find the Weapons Locker Key Card. With that in tow, they then need to make it to the Safety Deposit Room on the first floor, where they can collect the shotgun.

As previously stated, the shotgun is one of the strongest weapons Resident Evil 2 players can collect early in the game. It has a wide spread and is great for killing Lickers and zombie dogs, but shotgun shells are rare so players will want to use the weapon sparingly. They'll also want to keep an eye out for weapon upgrades that they can use to make the shotgun even more formidable over the course of the game.
