There's only a little more than a week left to go before Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake officially makes its way into the marketplace, and it looks as if the publisher and developer has decided to continue eking out information about the title right up until its launch. Just recently, in fact, the game's director Kazunori Kadoi and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi were at an RE2 event in Dubai, which led to the two discussing and revealing the survival-horror release's story length.

At one point during the event, Kadoi and Hirabayashi were asked about how long players should expect Resident Evil 2's total story to last, with the pair responding that it should take around 10 hours to complete for each character of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. With there being shared sequences between the two playable protagonists, though, the second playthrough fans choose to embark upon will likely be a tad shorter than the first.

For those who may have been out of the loop in regards to Resident Evil 2's development, Capcom has previously confirmed that the remake's story won't be exactly the same as the original, as the company is aiming to provide a deeper narrative experience marked by interaction and narrative enhancements. That said, though, the development team has also made sure to say that the forthcoming title will follow the plot structure of the source material.

Taking all of this into account, it certainly sounds as if the Resident Evil 2 remake should offer a satisfying amount of story for newcomers and long-time fans of the survival-horror franchise to sink their teeth into once the game finally arrives. Couple this with the fact that Capcom has also confirmed that HUNK and Tofu will be returning as playable characters in post-campaign bonus modes, and RE2 players should have plenty to keep them busy for a while.

Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
