With Resident Evil 2 fans now having a confirmed release date for Capcom's forthcoming remake project of the second installment in the storied survival-horror franchise, it's safe to say that plenty are willing to reserve a copy of the title as fast as possible. As it so happens, fans can pre-order the title on Amazon now for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which will net players exclusive in-game weapons.
As seen in the tweet below from the prolific Twitter user known as Wario64, those who pre-order Resident Evil 2 will receive the two bonus weapons of S.T.A.R.S. members' Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine's signature Samurai Edge handguns. These firearms will presumably be able for use for both the returning protagonists of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
At this point, there's no telling if those who pre-order Resident Evil 2 will get the items on day one or at a later date, especially since the game was just recently unveiled to the public during Sony's E3 2018 press conference. In fact, there could be even more pre-order goodies announced at some point in the near future that take precedence over Chris and Jill's guns. Then again, this is just speculation at the moment.
Bearing everything announced thus far in mind, the mere fact that Resident Evil 2 gameplay was shown tonight was exciting enough for many to lay down their money for a copy of the game right now. Of course, there will surely be plenty of others waiting until all the facts arrive before pre-ordering. For instance, some fans have said they would need to see how well Capcom incorporates the remake's change to an over-the-shoulder camera view from a fixed-point perspective. But as E3 presses on, perhaps we will learn more about the new RE2 that will please most, if not all fans.
Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
