For years, fans of the Resident Evil franchise have been asking Capcom to remake Resident Evil 2, and the company is finally fulfilling that wish early next year, delivering a game that seems to be very faithful to its source material. However, like most remakes, Resident Evil 2 will be making some changes, and while some of these changes are obvious, other possibilities haven't been touched on by Capcom, like whether or not it will add any new enemies to the mix.

Unfortunately for anyone hoping for the Resident Evil 2 remake to add new enemies, it's now been confirmed by game director Kazunori Kadoi that Capcom has no plans to introduce any new creatures to the game. This may disappoint some fans who were hoping for more new content in the remake, but on the bright side, they will still have a chance to face off against the familiar monsters that made the original Resident Evil 2 such a memorable game to begin with.

We know that all of the enemies from the original Resident Evil 2 are making a comeback in the remake. The streets of Raccoon City will be filled with zombies, Lickers, and more. Players will also have to contend with the imposing Tyrant Mr. X, as well as the giant alligator that can be found terrorizing the sewer system beneath the city.

Overall, it sounds like the Resident Evil 2 remake is going to be very faithful to the original game in terms of story, characters, and the enemies players encounter. There will be some differences, though, like ditching the zapping system in favor of a more streamlined narrative with two distinct stories for Leon and Claire.

The biggest changes players will notice in the Resident Evil 2 remake will be its dramatic graphical upgrade, as well as its shift from fixed camera angles to an over-the-shoulder third-person view. These new elements should help the Resident Evil 2 remake feel like a fresh experience, even though the story will be virtually unchanged from the original game based on what we've seen so far.

Of course, it's possible that Capcom has some surprises up its sleeve with the Resident Evil 2 remake that it's keeping secret from fans. We'll just have to wait for the Resident Evil 2 remake to launch early next year to find out for sure.

Resident Evil 2 will launch on January 25, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
