About a couple of days ago, Capcom decided to give fans looking forward to the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake a look at what the Licker monster will look like once the project's completed by releasing a high definition still of the creature. Now, the publisher and developer wish to give players a much more in-depth understanding of what it will be like to encounter the Licker with a fresh gameplay video highlighting a fight against the enemy type.

As seen in the video below, Capcom gives fans of the Resident Evil 2 remake a battle between the Licker and the game's co-protagonist, Claire Redfield, as she fights for survival while the skinless monster skitters from wall to ceiling to floor with little to no slowdown. A lot of the gameplay highlights the title's dark and tense atmospherics, with Claire's flashlight being the only form of illumination available. Oddly enough, though, the Licker's trademark tongue lash attack isn't adequately featured.

For those who haven't been keeping up with the Resident Evil 2 remake's development process, the Licker is far from the only familiar monster that will be making its return in Capcom's updated version of the 1998 survival horror classic. As it so happens, the publisher and developer has already confirmed that there won't be any new enemies in the remake, with the studio opting to only focus on enhancing and improving upon existing baddies.

Should the latest video highlighting the Licker in the Resident Evil 2 remake give fans a hankering for even more gameplay, Capcom has thankfully provided players with plenty of footage for the title so far, including a recently released 30 minute-long demo of Claire using a variety of weapons in combat. And as the weeks and months press on toward the RE2 remake's release date early next year, it's a safe bet to make that Capcom has even more gameplay to show off before then.

Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
