It has only been a few days since the highly anticipated Resident Evil 2 remake was released, giving many fans of the long-standing video game and film series the chance to revisit the Raccoon City incident once more to face the zombie outbreak. Last week, Capcom revealed that the game will be getting free DLC soon, and today, the game franchise's official Twitter account gave more details about what fans can expect from the upcoming DLC.

The first Resident Evil 2 DLC is called Ghost Survivors, and it explores the stories of three characters that never made it out of Raccoon City after the outbreak. These "what if" stories follow characters that players encounter in the main game, with they are the gunshop owner, the mayor's daughter, and the soldier. These three chapters are called No Time to Mourn, Runaway, and Forgotten Soldier, respectively, and promise some extended game time for players that might have finished the game's main story already.

The update will roll out as soon as February 15th, and as mentioned earlier, it is completely free to owners of the game. Many fans are of course very happy about receiving free DLC, as it is something that is rarely found in recent games. Even though the game has not quite met sales expectations, with Resident Evil 7 still having sold more units in the UK in the first week than Resident Evil 2, the game has received many positive reviews so far, and is certainly living up to all the fans' expectations.

The Resident Evil series also does not show any indication of stopping any time soon, with a Resident Evil Netflix series also being rumored to be in the works, produced by the same people behind the film series. The game and film series now boasts more than ten games and six films, and we hope to see more Resident Evil games being released and remade in the future.

The Resident Evil 2 remake is available now for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
