Horror enthusiasts are still recovering from the lack of Resident Evil 2 news that arrived on the game's twentieth anniversary, after lots of teasing from Capcom, so obviously fans of the franchise are hungry for any scrap of news. Details about the remake of the classic horror title have been basically non-existent so far, but if a new leak is to be trusted, then some real information about the game has finally arrived.

Keep in mind, this leak was posted on 4chan by unverified sources, so it should be taken with a huge dose of salt. That said, a few outlets are suggesting that they have received similar Resident Evil 2 Remake intel from other unnamed sources. That's hardly confirmation, but it's enough to post these details and imagine what the upcoming remake has to offer...

If any of this intel is to be trusted, then there is a ton to unpack here. One of the least surprising, but still interesting, notes here is that the game will adopt the Resident Evil 4 over the shoulder perspective. This makes a lot of sense. Although RE2 is a classic, the days of fixed camera horror are long behind us and exploring the police station in OTS mode will be a much more interested experience.

The crocodile was cut from the game, but it sounds like a lot of the other classic moments and items will be sticking around. Although horror will be the focus, lots of hidden items will still be scattered around RPD and the city. It's not too surprising to hear that DLC will be a major part of the game's content rollout and alternate costumes will mostly be available through those transactions.

It's too early to say if any of this is true or not, but we'll post an update once Capcom makes some announcements of its own. Check back for any news.

The Resident Evil 2 remake is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
