The breakout character of the Resident Evil 2 remake is undoubtedly the Mr. X tyrant. Mr. X's tendency to relentlessly stalk Leon and Claire throughout the Raccoon City Police Department has helped him become his own meme, as players find him both hilarious and frightening. Modders have had some fun with Mr. X as well, swapping the hulking character out for other pop culture icons.

The latest Resident Evil 2 Mr. X mod replaces Mr. X with none other than Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th fame. Compared to some of the other Resident Evil 2 Mr. X mods out there, the Jason Voorhees mod actually feels pretty natural, as the infamous Camp Crystal Lake killer already acts like Mr. X. Just like Mr. X, Jason slowly pursues his victims, he doesn't talk, and he is a large, imposing figure, so he feels right at home in Resident Evil 2.

Put together by a modder known as "George," the Resident Evil 2 Jason mod is based on a design by Tom Savini originally created for the asymmetric multiplayer horror game Friday the 13th: The Game. It lacks sound effects or music associated with Jason, but it's still very impressive work.

As previously stated, the modding community has had some fun replacing Mr. X in Resident Evil 2 with other characters. For example, one mod was made that replaced Mr. X with Thomas the Tank Engine, and another swapped him out for Resident Evil 3's Nemesis. There are also Mr. X mods available that increase the number of Mr. X tyrants that are pursuing the player, with one mod upping the number all the way to 10.

Other mods for Resident Evil 2 change other characters in the game, like Leon and Claire. There's a Scooby-Doo Shaggy mod for Leon, as well as a Captain Marvel Claire mod that makes her look like the Marvel superhero Carol Danvers.

Moving forward, Resident Evil 2 fans can count on the modding community to keep adding interesting creations to the popular survival-horror game.

Resident Evil is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
