Capcom's Resident Evil 2 has a new surprise in store for fans of the series. Since its January release, the remake has received critical acclaim and sold over five million copies, outselling the original game. At the same time, this proves Capcom still has what it takes to go back to its roots and develop a faithful survival horror experience. To this end, a new achievement called 'Chasing Jill' and Easter egg has been implemented for players to find which further ties the game to the remake of its sequel set to come out next year.

The remake of Resident Evil 2 reintroduces the original's glory remastered in a third-person perspective. Players can choose to go through the story as one of two main characters: Leon Kennedy, a rookie police officer, or Claire Redfield, a college student looking for her brother Chris. No matter the choice, players will proceed through the story in mostly the same way as the original, fighting the same bosses, but differing in dialogue and story encounters. In this regard, the newest achievement and lore-related item that can be discovered is a letter from Jill Valentine, protagonist of the first game, the upcoming third remake, and one of the most popular characters in the series.

Where to Find Jill's Letter

resident evil 2 remake where the letter is located in the kendo gun shop

Jill's letter can only be found in Leon's story; Claire's playthrough will not pass by the required area. Players will need to first obtain the Parking Garage Key Card to unlock the gate before stepping out into the mean streets of Raccoon City. Once free, follow the road while keeping to the right and eventually Leon will arrive at Gunshop Kendo. It will initially be locked, but Ada will open the way after exchanging some dialogue.

Moving inside, head past the shelf with the Shotgun Long Barrel attachment. Jill's Letter will be located on the other end of the shelf for inspection. Note at this time, the letter can only be found in the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Resident Evil 2 so PC users will have to wait. Players should also be aware that they can't return to earlier areas once they enter the final part of the story, so Leon should read the letter before heading off to the NEST Lab, otherwise the run will have to be reloaded or even restarted depending on the save files available.

In the end, Jill's letter to Robert Kendo, the gunshop owner briefly encountered by Leon, hints that the NPC may have more interactions in the third remake to come. The Resident Evil 2 remake already expanded upon Kendo's original appearance by introducing him alive, and having no choice but to put his infected daughter down and even giving him a non-canon DLC scenario. However, only time will tell if Jill encounters Kendo or if this was just a red herring.

Resident Evil 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
