Those who recently decided to give Capcom's "One-Shot" demo for the Resident Evil 2 remake a go and played until the 30 minute timer ran out were then rewarded with a cinematic trailer that gave a look at what else is to come in the title. Toward the end of the footage, it was confirmed that both HUNK and Tofu were going to make their return to the game, with the video showing the side characters in brief segments to tease their inclusion.

Now, Capcom has decided to reveal a few new looks at HUNK and Tofu by releasing a handful of fresh screenshots depicting the two exploring the sewers and streets of Raccoon City in the Resident Evil 2 remake. According to the publisher and developer, both of them will become available as playable figures in the forthcoming survival-horror title through the unlockable bonus modes of The Fourth Survivor and The Tofu Survivor.

For those unaware, recent data released by Capcom indicated that there's a huge amount of interest for the launch of the Resident Evil 2 remake, with the "One-Shot" demo's download count having already surpassed one million on a global scale since becoming available. With this being the case, there's a decent chance of some players in this mix being RE2 newcomers, which might have them wondering the roles that HUNK and Tofu will play in the game overall.

As previously inferred, the original Resident Evil 2–arguably one of the best in the series so far–allowed players to unlock the aforementioned special modes called The Fourth Survivor and The Tofu Survivor by completing the game under certain conditions. The former stars the Umbrella operative HUNK, with it being a minigame in which he must fight to live through Raccoon City's destruction by escaping in a helicopter. The latter is a parody of The Fourth Survivor, with players needing to meet the same objective under even more difficult circumstances, but as a walking bean curd instead.

All things considered, it's great to see HUNK and Tofu will be making their returns in the Resident Evil 2 remake, as it definitely shows Capcom's dedication to not only preserve the integrity of the 1998 survival-horror classic, but also enhance it in more ways than one. Thankfully, there's not too much longer left to go before fans will be able to get their hands on a copy of one of the most highly anticipated titles of 2019 and unlock the new iterations of HUNK and Tofu for themselves.

Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
