From the positive reception following its reveal at E3 last summer to the over one million players who've downloaded its "One-Shot" demo, the anticipation for Capcom's reimagining of Resident Evil 2 is in full swing just a week away from the full game's release. While the new look and feel of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield's respective stories are sure to attract the attention of both long time fans of the series and newcomers looking to play a modernized version of the survival-horror experience, there's a chance Capcom may have plans to further expand upon the base game after release.

In an interview between Capcom and Saudi Gamer (rtranslated via Google), the director and producer for Resident Evil 2 have hinted at the possibility of post-launch content releases. While specific details weren't mentioned, both Kazunori Kadoi and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, director and producer respectively, mentioned their dedication to the project and willingness to provide new content to series fans before moving on to any other projects.

Since there were no specifics as to what type of DLC could be included in the new take on Resident Evil 2, this leaves room for everyone to speculate as to how Capcom would approach such a post-launch schedule. Considering the full game will contain easter eggs relevant to other games in the franchise such as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the idea of adding in new cosmetic items to apply in-game make the most sense. Seeing as how the final trailer from the latest "One-Shot" demo revealed the inclusion of both Hunk and Tofu from the original game, visual modifications appear to be a likely approach Capcom could take.

Given the respective story arcs for both Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield will take around 10 hours each to complete, this leaves an opportunity for Capcom to either now begin working on smaller content add-ons internally, or even wait and listen to player feedback in respective to what the community would like to see changed with the 1998 classic's rebuilt experience. For those still on the fence about whether or not they'll be getting Resident Evil 2 on launch day, Capcom has offered a ton of new gameplay videos and trailers in recent weeks heading into the game's release for everyone to check out.

Resident Evil 2 will release on January 25th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
