It is likely that fans of the recent Resident Evil 3 Remake have finished it off, cleaned out the post-game shop, and are laying waste to zombies with a host of neat gadgets by now. If fans are looking for information on what may be coming next for the franchise, though, they might be surprised to hear what Resident Evil 2's Claire Redfield's actress had to say on a recent podcast.

Claire Redfield has been a central figure in Resident Evil lore since the series early days, having appeared in Resident Evil 2, Code Veronica, and Revelations 2 as a lead. The remake of Resident Evil 2 was very well received and was the first to feature Stephanie Panisello in the role of Claire. Now, Panisello's appearance on a Resident Evil podcast has added to the Resident Evil rumor mill, teasing an upcoming project.

The podcast brought together a number of actors from across the RE universe, talking about their time working on the series. When addressing members of the Resident Evil 3 team, Panisello said, "Resident Evil 3 cast, hello. I know I don't know you guys personally, although I do feel like I've worked with one of you, but I think it's a project that hasn't come out yet, so I won't say anything."

This somewhat vague statement gives fans a lot to speculate on, as this could be a hint that Panisello has worked/is working on something Resident Evil-related with one of the cast members, something that could hint at what's in store for Resident Evil 8If not, it could be anything.

A continuation of the Resident Evil: Revelations game line has popped up in rumors as well, which featured both Jill and Claire as lead characters. Perhaps they could be joining forces for the third game in that offshoot of the franchise. In a recent Reddit AMA, Jill's motion capture and voice actor Nicole Tompkins answered a question about Jill and Claire teaming up by saying "So up for it. How fun would that be! Stephanie is such a sweetheart!"

With so much information and rumor swirling about with regard to Resident Evil, it's hard to know what to believe. It seems more concrete that the next game receiving the remake treatment is Resident Evil 4, a game that doesn't feature Claire or any characters from Resident Evil 3 at all, so if Panisello talks about working with someone from the RE3 team, it may not actually be related.

At this early stage and with no official word from Capcom, all fans can do is speculate on what might be to come in future RE games. Panisello's comment from the Resident Evil podcast only adds to this speculation, and only time will tell if this was a hint.
