In a matter of days, Capcom is releasing its highly-anticipated remake of the classic survival-horror title, Resident Evil 2. As launch day approaches, Capcom is going all-out with promotional materials such as an interactive trailer and a 1-shot demo that gives players a glimpse of Leon S. Kennedy’s story.

Now, a video has recently surfaced online showing the first fifteen minutes of Claire Redfield’s campaign and the possible appearance of a particular feature in Resident Evil 2 that Capcom has previously said will not be available in the remake. Before anything else, a fair warning that the video below will be showing scenes from Claire’s perspective from the moment she steps foot in Raccoon City, up until her arrival at the police station.

The leaked footage can be found on YouTube, which is assumed to have been sourced from a ResetEra thread. The video briefly shows a trucker making his way to Raccoon City before accidentally running off a zombie that came out of nowhere. The footage then cuts to Claire Redfield riding her motorcycle as she makes a stop in a gas station where she encounters her first group of zombies and the cop that was featured in the game’s E3 trailer. As Claire makes her escape, she stumbles upon Leon, with the iconic “Don’t Shoot!”, “Get Down!” dialogue from the original game.

The remake’s intro also deviates a little bit from the source material, replacing the diner with a gas station as the location where the protagonists meet one another. After Claire and Leon got separated from a crash involving the truck driver shown earlier, Claire makes her way to the police station, which is where things start to get interesting.

Several months prior, the remake’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, previously confirmed that the original game’s A and B scenarios would not be present in Resident Evil 2 remake. However, the leaked footage shows Claire enter the police station from the front main entrance, which is where Leon started in the 1-shot demo, that has now surpassed over 1 million players.

She then proceeds to the east hall of the police station where the shutter is closed just as it is for Leon in the 1-shot demo. The footage ends just after Claire enters the east wing, which is the same location where Leon found the police officer in the demo. Now, if Claire also stumbles upon the same cop and triggers the same cutscene, this would suggest that the A and B scenario from the original is also present in the remake.

Of course, the footage still does not prove anything, especially since Capcom already shot down the idea of the feature appearing in the game. But, it is worth noting that the developer has a track record of saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite. For example, game director Kazunori Kadoi previously said that Ada will not be wearing her iconic red dress in the remake for "practical reasons," but more recent trailers for the game show otherwise. Luckily, players won’t have to wait too long to confirm whether the A and B scenario mechanic will be present in the remake.

Resident Evil 2 releases on January 25, 2019, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
