Resident Evil 2 being on PC means that the critically-acclaimed survival-horror game is getting all sorts of mods released for it. One of the latest adds Captain Marvel to the game, swapping out Claire Redfield for Marvel's extremely powerful heroine.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as though the Captain Marvel mod includes any of the character's various powers. It really just seems to function as an alternate costume for Claire, which is fine for anyone looking to play as Captain Marvel in a video game, as their options are actually quite limited at the time of this writing.

Since Resident Evil 2's launch in January, we've seen the modding community replace its cast with a variety of other characters. For example, we've seen Regina from Dino Crisis added to Resident Evil 2 in a manner not unlike Captain Marvel, letting players live out their fantasy of a Dino Crisis remake.

Other mods that have been released for Resident Evil 2 change some of the game's creatures for other characters. One mod turned all the zombies into tofu, and another replaced Mr. X with Thomas the Train, which is arguably even scarier than the relentless, fedora-wearing tyrant that players encounter in the base game.

Another mod for Resident Evil 2 replaces Mr. X with a more familiar character to Resident Evil fans: Nemesis. Like with the Regina Dino Crisis mod, Resident Evil 2 fans can download the Nemesis mod to tide them over until Capcom decides to move forward with a full-fledged Resident Evil 3 remake. It may not be quite the same as facing the real Nemesis head-on, but it's a decent substitute.

Other mods released for Resident Evil 2 actually focus on changing up the gameplay. Mods have been released that change the game's camera modes, giving players the option to play in first-person or with the classic fixed-camera angles that were used in the original Resident Evil 2.

Resident Evil 2 currently stands as the highest-rated video game of 2019 so far and has sold millions of units worldwide. Considering its popularity, fans should be able to expect modders to continue releasing new content for the game in the months to come.

Resident Evil is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
