It won't be too much longer before gamers will be able to get their hands on a copy of Capcom's forthcoming Resident Evil 2, with the survival-horror release set to go live across multiple platforms at the end of next week. But even though the remake of the 1998 classic is almost here, it looks as if the project's director Kazunori Kadoi and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi are keen to keep providing details about the title right up until launch, as the two have now confirmed that the game will have Easter eggs that reference RE7.

According to a recent interview held during a Resident Evil 2 press tour in Dubai, Kadoi and Hirabayashi were asked if the remake would contain Easter eggs that cater to fans of the franchise. This led to the director and producer saying that not only would such secrets exist, but also some will be "associated with Resident Evil 7". Although they didn't explain exactly what should be expected out of these Easter eggs, those who played RE7 and find them should feel as if they received "additional information" about the 2017 release.

For the uninitiated, most games from the Resident Evil franchise contain a multitude of different Easter eggs that nod toward other entries in the series, so the fact that the RE2 remake will be continuing this tradition shouldn't be too surprising. As it so happens, despite having featured a new location and protagonist when it released, Resident Evil 7 also had its own Easter eggs that managed to make connections and allusions to the survival-horror IP's greater universe.

All things considered, the Resident Evil 2 remake's decision to include Easter eggs that are pertinent to RE7 and the series as a whole will no doubt delight myriad fans of the franchise, for such secrets often help to increase a given game's shelf life by offering players extra incentive to spend time seeking them out. Be that as it may, it will be interesting to see if Capcom has made any of the game's Easter eggs so difficult to discover that it takes fans upwards of 12 years to find them.

Resident Evil 2 is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
