Reigns: Game of Thrones - How to Unlock All Characters

With HBO's hit show Game of Thrones finally coming to an end, fans of the franchise are looking to further explore the world of A Song of Ice and Fire through video games. One video game in particular seems to be getting more popular thanks to Season 8 of Game of Thrones, and that is the strategy game Reign: Game of Thrones, which just recently made its way to the Nintendo Switch.

In Reigns: Game of Thrones, players control different rulers who are all characters from the popular show. However, Reigns: Game of Thrones players only start with one character at the beginning of the game, and they will have to do specific things to unlock the rest of the playable characters.

Here is how to unlock all of the characters in Reigns: Game of Thrones.

1. How to Unlock Daenerys

Daenerys Targaryen is the easiest character to get in Reigns: Game of Thrones because she is unlocked right at the start.

2. How to Unlock Jon Snow

Play as Daenerys and talk to Jon Snow when he shows up, then die.

3. How to Unlock Tyrion

Tyrion Lannister is also fairly easy and straightforward to unlock in Reigns: Game of Thrones. Just play as Dany and die.

4. How to Unlock Sansa

When it comes to unlocking Sansa Stark in Reigns: Game of Thrones, things are a little bit more complicated than with Daenerys or Tyrion. To unlock Sansa in Reigns: Game of Thrones, players have to play to the point until she asks to purchase Wildfire (this can be done with any character). Agree to her request, and then wait until the Grand Maester reports that the Twins have been blown up. Sansa will then be unlocked upon one's next death.

5. How to Unlock Cersei

Unlocking Cersei is even tougher. Players first need to play as Tyrion, and then make sure they have the pirate unlocked. Eventually, Lord Varys will warn that Cersei is at Casterly Rock. Choose the "Come closer" option after asking about her plans, and then later Lord Varys will deliver the pirate to Tyrion to hire. The pirate should be successful in capturing Cersei, which will trigger a trial for her. Regardless of what happens in the trial, Cersei will be unlocked as a playable character upon the next death.

6. How to Unlock Arya

Just like unlocking Cersei, unlocking Arya in Reigns: Game of Thrones requires players to play as Tyrion. Play the game until Cersei's men start getting assassinated, and then investigate their deaths. Eventually, Tyrion will be given four suspects to choose from, and so be sure to pick the Septon. Arya will then reveal herself, and she will become a playable character after the next death.

7. How to Unlock Gendry

To unlock Gendry in Reigns: Game of Thrones, players need to play as Arya, which is fitting considering their relationship on the show. Tell the blacksmith to forge a celestial sword, and then later tell him to make swords when he mentions that there is too much iron. The Master of Coin will then talk to Arya about the blacksmith, and players need to select very specific dialogue choices here to unlock Gendry.

Select these dialogue options, in this order:

  • On the contrary
  • I know who you are
  • You can't fool me
  • Hot Pie sends his regards

Die and Gendry will become a playable character.

8. How to Unlock Jaime

Play as Cersei and play until the point where Tyrion talks about the White Walker threat. Players will eventually be given a choice, with Jaime as one of the options. Choose Jaime, and then die for him to become a playable character.

9. How to Unlock Bran (Three-Eyed Raven)

To unlock Bran (also known as the Three-Eyed Raven), all players have to do is play with each character at least once. Then Bran should pop up the next time one visits the character select screen.

Reigns: Game of Thrones is out now for iOS, Android, PC, and Switch.
