Nintendo of America's former president Reggie Fils-Aime has been quite busy lately, despite announcing his retirement from NOA in April of 2019. Since then he has joined many new ventures, including joining GameStop's board of directors last March.

Now, it seems Fils-Aime will be taking the spotlight once again as he announced his upcoming interview with another modern gaming legend, Hideo Kojima, for the 10th annual New York Game Awards. Kojima is receiving his Legend Award from the New York Game Awards, with Fils-Aime interviewing him about it live on YouTube and Twitch tonight at 5:00 PM PST/8:00 PM EST.

The 10th annual New York Game Awards show will take place live on January 26 and will be livestreamed on both YouTube and Twitch. Fils-Aime will be co-hosting the award show and interview alongside the founder of the New York Video Game Critic Circle, Harold Goldberg. In the lead-up to the event, other celebrities and personalities relating to the video game industry have been interviewed by Fils-Aime and Goldberg, including DOOM designers and developers Brenda and John Romero. Now, the pair of co-hosts will be interviewing the Death Stranding and Metal Gear developer about his creative influences as well as his opinions on entertainment media.

While not too much is known about what other topics Fils-Aime and Goldberg will end up tackling during the interview with Kojima, it's likely that the trio will discuss Kojima Productions in some way. Kojima Productions has recently teased new projects in the works, but it's unknown whether or not Kojima will discuss whatever it is that the studio is working on next. More than likely, the interview will focus on Kojima himself, as the reasons he's being interviewed has to do with his Legend Award. Still, it will be very interesting to hear Kojima talk about the different people or pieces of entertainment media that has influenced him throughout his life and career.

Interestingly, Fils-Aime himself has received similar awards in the past recognizing his outstanding achievements in the video game industry. In October of 2019, Fils-Aime received a lifetime achievement award from the International Video Game Hall of Fame. Fils-Aime will no doubt use that experience to help guide him during his upcoming interview with Kojima. Regardless of the specific topics discussed, this upcoming interview is going to be something to look out for, considering it features a pair of industry veterans that many fans and players haven't seen interact much in the public eye.

Additionally, it's always fascinating to see such prolific figures in a given industry open up about their influences or creative process. Considering many of the projects Kojima has worked on in the past involve complicated themes and story elements, it will be fascinating to hear who or what exactly he cites as creative influences. While it's unlikely that Kojima will take the time during the interview to reveal any details about upcoming projects from Kojima Productions, nothing has officially be confirmed or denied. Still, those looking forward to hearing Kojima talk about his influences should keep an eye out for when the live interview begins later tonight.
