Redfall will launch on May 2, 2023, for PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles, if a recent rumor is to be believed. Whether this rumor is true or not, there's a solid chance fans learn Redfall's release date at the upcoming Xbox Bethesda Developer Direct.
Xbox has been rumored to be hosting its own showcase ever since The Game Awards in December, and following these and a report by Windows Central, Microsoft did confirm that the Xbox Bethesda Developer Direct will take place on January 25. Clear expectations were outline, with fans knowing they'll learn more about Redfall, Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport, and The Elder Scrolls Online. Meanwhile, Starfield will be getting a dedicated gameplay showcase at a later date.
The May 2 rumor comes from Twitter user eXtas1s, who previously leaked information regarding Hideo Kojima's Project Overdose. It should be noted that many fans believe the Xbox cloud game Hideo Kojima is one and the same with the Project Overdose rumors, but obviously this has not been confirmed. In other words, this should be taken with a heavy grain of salt, but luckily, fans are likely to learn the veracity of this rumor by the end of the month. That said, eXtas1s does seem to be rather confident in this Redfall rumor, suggesting they have 100% confirmed it, but it's best to wait to hear it from the horse's mouth.
However, it should be noted that this rumor lines up with previous rumors regarding Redfall. It's known that Starfield and Redfall are set to launch on Xbox Game Pass within the first half of 2023, though recent rumors suggested that Redfall was internally delayed (that is, goalposts were moved without a public acknowledgment) by about six weeks. Some believed it would be launching earlier in the first half of 2023, but a May date could lend some credence to that rumor too.
Either way, fans are confirmed to learn about a few concrete Redfall gameplay details at the Developer Direct. The official announcement states that official gameplay will be shown that highlights combat, customization, bosses, and the open world via single player and multiplayer gameplay. These firm expectations obviously exclude a release date, so it's hard to say for sure, but there should be some good stuff there nonetheless.
Redfall is in development for PC and Xbox Series X.
