While it hasn't received as much support as its predecessor Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Online has still proved an interesting place for players of all backgrounds to mingle in an old west setting. While the game has found itself marred in controversy before, players are currently taking time to appreciate some of its Native American customization items.

Over on Reddit, a thread discussing the Native American-themed options in Red Dead Online is beginning to pick up steam, with players stopping to appreciate how robust the content is, and asking Rockstar to continue to add new options for Native characters. It's a moment of positivity for the game, which is good to see, especially considering how toxic some have attempted to make the experience. In the past, hackers have even tried to spawn KKK members in Red Dead Onlinewhich Rockstar continues to battle with.

Elsewhere on the Red Dead Online Reddit, players have been sharing their Native American characters, some even sharing backgrounds for their characters in addition to just their looks. Rockstar was criticized for a lack of content prior to the Naturalist update in Red Dead Online, but seeing the broad range of characters that are possible thanks to the bevy of options is a testament to its customization.

With the PS5 and Xbox Series X on the horizon, it isn't clear how far out Rockstar will continue Red Dead Online's lifespan. GTA 5 is coming to next-gen consoles, and while Red Dead isn't as big of a deal, it's still a massively popular game, so it would certainly sell. That being said, the game isn't dated by any means, and with robust backward compatibility on both systems, there's a chance Rockstar may just continue updating the current system, rather than selling an entirely new port.

That hasn't stopped players from asking if Red Dead 2 will get a next-gen port, and the odds of it happening eventually do seem pretty high. It took Grand Theft Auto 5 a few years to make it to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after its release at the end of the Xbox 360 and PS3 era, so there's still ample time for Rockstar to make an announcement for Red Dead Redemption 2.

Regardless, Rockstar providing Red Dead Online players with new character customization options is a surefire way to keep fans coming back. Having a unique-looking character is one of the game's biggest draws, and Rockstar should continue to capitalize on it.

Red Dead Online is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
