Remasters, ports, and enhanced versions of previously released video games have quickly become a big business for companies during this console generation. Fans have already seen re-releases of games like The Last of Us, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and much more. Nintendo has even embraced this philosophy with the Switch, bringing many Wii U games over with added content like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well as a bunch of upcoming games in 2018. A new retailer leak has seemingly outed another yet to be announced title from the previous generation, with Red Faction: Guerrilla potentially making its return.

Reddit users stumbled across a curious listing on the Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland GameStop websites, with listings carrying a pre-order option for Red Faction: Guerrilla Remastered, a game that technically doesn't exist at this moment. The listings have since been removed, indicating a possible error on GameStop's part, or that the company jumped the gun on an upcoming announcement. Either way, fans should take this potential leak with a grain of salt until THQ Nordic says otherwise.

Originally part of THQ and Volition, the Red Faction brand went on hiatus after the disappointing debut of Red Faction Armageddon in 2011. After the IP was purchased by THQ Nordic (formerly Nordic Games) during the bankruptcy auction for THQ, the company went on to update the PC version of the game late in 2014. Renaming it Red Faction Guerrilla Steam Edition, THQ Nordic removed the Games for Windows Live integration, replaced it with Steamworks, fixed additional bugs, and created new Wrecking Crew maps on top of that. The fresh content and fixes have gone on to provide a spike in popularity to the aging title.

This latest potential leak follows in the footsteps of another long-dormant franchise which was recently spotted online. Burnout Paradise, a game which launched back in 2008, also appears to be making a comeback almost 10 years later according to UK-based online retailer base.com. The listing, which is still active at the time of this writing, indicates a PlayStation 4 version is at least on the way at the end of March. Unfortunately, no details such as what's included were added to the listing outside of a trailer for the previously released Ultimate Box edition.

Red Faction: Guerrilla Remastered has yet to be officially confirmed.
