Without its antagonists, Red Dead Redemption 2 is just a Grand Theft Auto with horses. Over the course of the game, Dutch van der Linde and his gang were running for their lives with lawmakers and gang rivals pulling them off from every direction.

One of the new characters on the game is Colm O'Driscoll, an old-time, degenerate friend of Dutch who had a rocky relationship with him before it escalated into a full-time war between the two outlaw gangs. Since the very first chapter of the game, players were already introduced to the Irishman and his gang, but there are still some little-known facts about the game's most-hated antagonist.

10 A Real-Life Person Named Colm O'Driscoll Received Hate Messages & Death Threats

Upon the game's release, one fan of Red Dead Redemption 2 took his 'frustration' over the game by contacting a real-life Colm O'Driscoll person on Instagram. The real-life person tried to calm things down, only for the angry fan to say, "Oh you playing stupid? Tell me you didn't shoot Dutch's girl like that. You heartless bastard!"

Of course, this does not look good for the fan, but fortunately, the real-life O'Driscoll took it with laughter and a little grain of salt.

9 The O'Driscoll Boys Have At Least 11 Hideouts & Camps

Throughout the game, whether it's Arthur Morgan or John Marston, players are free to roam around the free-world of all the five territories: Ambarino, Lemoyne, New Austin, New Hanover, and West Elizabeth. A couple of rival gang locations are available for players to wreak havoc, and that includes the O'Driscoll Boys.

Although they move around regularly, the O'Driscoll Boys always camp in these five areas: Colter (Grizzlies West, Ambarino), Lone Mule Stead (Big Valley, West Elizabeth), Hanging Dog Rach (Big Valley), Six Point Cabin (Cumberland Forest, New Hanover), and Ewing Basin (the Grizzlies West).

8 He Was Captured During a Routine Stagecoach Inspection

According to New Hanover Gazette No. 34, Colm O'Driscoll was captured during the 'routine stagecoach inspection,' which, honestly, is a bit sluggish for a notorious outlaw like him. His sentencing was quick and concise.

The full article goes like this, "Bounties for his death or capture have long been posted far and wide. That reign of terror came to an end when the leader of the notorious gang, The O'Driscoll Boys, was captured during a routine coach inspection by a deputy. O'Driscoll was examined by Judge Taylor the next day."

7 The Real-Life Outlaw Gang Dalton Gang

Upon creating The O'Driscoll Boys, Rockstar might have taken a direct inspiration from the real-life outlaw gang called the Dalton Gang. Like the O'Driscoll Boys, which was formed from a family of O'Driscolls, the Dalton Gang was solely based on the Daltons. Back in the days in the 1980s, they were also called 'The Dalton Boys.'

Their glory days came to an end after their robbery of Condon Bank Coffeyville in Kansas went south. Most of the gang members were captured.

6 Colm O'Driscoll Is an Ireland-Native

Like the Braithwates and the Grays who came from the UK, Colm O'Driscoll was also a United Kingdom-native. His ancestors came from the Western Cork of Ireland, which pretty much explains why he has an O'Driscoll surname.

'O'Driscoll' is derived from 'Eidirsceol,' which can be translated to "go-between" or "bearer of news" according to Irish professional genealogist, John Grenham.

5 Only Sean MacGuire Pronounces Colm's Name the Right Way

Turned out, we've been pronouncing Colm O'Driscoll's name the wrong way.

During one of the random encounters at the gang's camp, Sean Macguire, a fellow Irish, told the right way to pronounciate Colm's name. According to him, who obtained a proper Irish accent, it's 'Co-olm,' not 'Colm' especially 'Calm.'

4 Colm's Relationship With His Brother Turned Sour Before His Death

As mentioned above, Colm and Dutch were friends at one point in their lives. The two had a rocky relationship before parting ways to form their gangs: the Van der Linde Gang and the O'Driscoll Boys. Everything was under control until Dutch killed Colm's brother, prompting him to murder Annabelle, Dutch's sweetheart, in revenge.

Speaking about Colm's brother, there isn't any detail that can be dug out about him except for Colm's conversation with Dutch about his brother. He said that he 'didn't really like him that much,' proving that the two's relationship might have gone wrong before his death.

3 Colm Felt Remorse Prior to His Hanging

Although Colm O'Driscoll was a notorious, blood-thirsty outlaw who's never afraid to cross the line, he showed a little bit of guilt and remorse during his time in prison before his hanging.

"My imprisonment has given me a chance to reflect. I think on the things I have done, some of which I regret, and some of which I do not," he wrote to Tom, his successor at the gang before mentioning a mysterious woman whom he wanted to forgive. "I would hope you could pay a visit to her in order to say that all is forgiven and perhaps to give her something lasting to remember me by."

2 After Colm's Hanging, Tom Stepped Up

As Colm helplessly finds himself in the law's noose, he gave his blessing to Tom, who later served as his successor at the gang. He was the man who ordered the robbery and looting of the Adlers Ranch, killing Jake in the process, and later found his inevitable death in the hands of the last remaining Adler, Sadie.

"He was a good man, my Jakey. We was always sweet on one another. I miss him every day... every moment," Sadie told Arthur about his late husband. "They turned me into a monster, Arthur. But my memories of him... they still pure."

1 O'Driscoll Boys Never Really Crossed Paths with Leviticus Cornwall

It's bizarre to think that the game's most wealthy ultra-tycoon, Leviticus Cornwall, has actually never crossed the path with Colm O'Driscoll or his Boys. According to Jeremy Ray of Fandom, the mining and coal mogul had an estimated net worth of $12 billion in today's currency ($400,000 in the Old West).

Given the Boys' notoriety nature, they should have at least robbed or been involved in a dirty game against the wealthy man.
