Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, has already offered up some integration with upcoming western Red Dead Redemption 2. Players were able to unlock a golden double action revolver by following a map and gathering clues that hinted at the weapon's location. That was a fun quest for fans of both game series but it seems that it's not the end of the partnership between the two titles.

Following the GTA Online After Hours update that allows players to run their own nightclubs, dataminers have uncovered yet another Red Dead Redemption 2 weapon unlock quest. This time around, players will be able to unlock a weapon called the Stone Hatchet. The Stone Hatchet is an ornately decorated melee weapon that features a passive ability that allows GTA Online players to trigger a mode called "Rampage" which makes them invincible for the duration.

The weapon (and the associated quest to unlock it) were uncovered by dataminers, so while it isn't live yet, players will want to be ready once Rockstar pushes the button. Here's a step by step.

Step 1: Receive a Text

In order to unlock the Stone Hatchet in Red Dead Redemption 2, players will first need to unlock the weapon in GTA Online. The first step begins when players receive a text from NPC Maude Eccles. Maude Eccles tasks players with completing bounties, carrying out different objectives for several different characters.

Step 2: Complete Bounties for Maude Eccles

In total, there will be 20 Maude Eccles bounties for GTA Online players to complete, but only five need to be completed in order to get the Stone Hatchet. Different bounties will have different success conditions, for example, there is a bounty on top of a tall building that needs to be taken back to Maude's trailer alive. Another bounty, who is found smoking at the side of the road, can either be killed or taken alive in order to count.

The game spells it out for players and even gives them GPS locations of the bounties so it shouldn't be too difficult to complete. The video embedded above suggests that players could even complete all five required bounties in under an hour.

Step 3: Go to the Stone Hatchet Treasure Spot

Once these five bounties have been completed, players will receive the location of the Stone Hatchet. It's a nondescript brown crate in a rundown bus, according to the above video,  and upon opening it the distinct sounds of a country western will play. That unlocks the weapon in GTA Online, but there's one final step in order to unlock it in Red Dead Redemption 2 as well.

Step 4: Get 25 Kills With the Stone Hatchet

The final step to get the weapon in Red Dead Redemption 2 is to perform 25 kills with it in GTA Online. While that may seem like a lofty figure for less-skilled GTA Online players, the Stone Hatchet's passive "Rampage" ability should make the task a lot easier. Rampage makes players invincible for a short amount of time - it can be triggered by getting chained kills and players can extend the timer by getting more kills. It means that players could potentially get the 25 kills in one go.

Once completing this, players will receive some GTA Dollars for their efforts and the game will give them a notification confirming that the weapon has been unlocked in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 won't be released until later this year, but players will be satisfied knowing that their arsenals are already growing without even having set virtual foot in the wild west title.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
