Just two days ago a random Google search led to the discovery of what appeared to be a Red Dead Redemption Remastered edition. The remaster was said to be an Amazon search result, though the listing was hidden on Amazon's website. Now a bigger leak seems to be making the rounds for a Red Dead Redemption: The Outlaws Collection. This leak shows screenshots of full Amazon listings. However, as exciting as the Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection sounds, it's likely fake.

Here's what the screenshots claim Amazon posted about Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection. It's described as a full remake of the original Red Dead Redemption and not just a remaster. Features including ray tracing and faster loading times have been added, but not fully detailed. There's also mention of new missions and "faces," which could mean expanded story content. It sounds too good to be true, and by all indications it is.

There are a lot of problems with the Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection listing, to be clear. But the biggest immediate red flag is that there's no genuinely substantial evidence that it's real. There's no URL for the original listing that could be looked into, no original source who could be questioned, and no supplementary evidence indicating any aspect of the listing is truthful. In other words, this supposed Red Dead Redemption leak relies heavily on viewers hoping it's true, rather than trying to be persuasive.

Details in the listings themselves also point to this being not just a fake, but an obvious fake. The 10080 zip code, for example, is for the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. It's a direct hint that this is a fake from whoever created the images. If that wasn't enough, the PS5 listing features a price of $69.96, but just below says "Get $60 off instantly: Pay $0.00 upon approval for the Amazon Rewards Visa Card." The text has been copied and pasted from the PS4 Amazon listing image, which had a price of $59.96.

Regardless of it being a rather clear fake, the Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection is being shared around the internet by fans who'd love to play the game on their next-generation console. It's best to step in and acknowledge that it's a fake before too many people build up false expectations.

Does that mean that Rockstar isn't working on a remaster or rerelease of Red Dead Redemption? No, but if Rockstar is working on it then it'll be sure to announce the project more than three weeks before launch via a leaked Amazon listing.

Red Dead Redemption is available on PS3 and Xbox 360.
