One of the many staples of Rockstar Games' open-world titles is that the worlds themselves are incredibly expansive and Red Dead Redemption is no exception to this. Sporting some of the most detailed and vast open-world environments in Rockstar's library of games, Red Dead Redemption has a lot for players to do and see within both installments. Now, a particular user has created a way to showcase what those two worlds maps look like combined.
When the first Red Dead Redemption released, it featured a wide variety of different locations for players to explore and delve into. Even though players can't visit many other Red Dead Redemption 1 locations in Red Dead Redemption 2, one fan has depicted what the map of Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like with the addition of the locations from Red Dead Redemption 1.
A Reddit user by the name of TokerSmurf combined the maps of both Red Dead Redemption games and the result is quite interesting. The Red Dead Redemption 1 extends outward from the homestead of John Marston and goes Southwest. It makes one wonder what the locations from the original Red Dead Redemption would look like with the updated graphics and polish of the second installment.
This map combination does lead to many potential scenarios. The overwhelming majority of locations from Red Dead Redemption 1 are not available for players to access, but, because those locations still technically exist outside of Red Dead Redemption 2, it's possible that locations could be reused in the future. Whether in a third installment, in a mod for Red Dead Redemption 2, or potentially in a DLC campaign.
It will be interesting if Rockstar Games chooses to revisit any of these Red Dead Redemption 1 locations in the future. In video game franchises like The Elder Scrolls, for instance, while each game takes place in a different overworld, they all share an underlying connection to one another and Red Dead Redemption shares a similar commonality in that regard.
Considering how much attention Rockstar Games has placed on Red Dead Online, allowing players to roam the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 with other players, while also providing additional content periodically, it's possible that Rockstar could allow players to explore Red Dead Redemption 1 locations in Red Dead Online. Although, as of right now, there's been no official news of Rockstar planning anything akin to that.
