Red Dead Redemption let gamers delve deeper than ever before into the Old West through the character of John Marston - but what made Marston so unique to each gamer, besides whether you chose to be good or bad, was the get-up Marston wore.

On October 12th, through a new piece of free DLC, gamers' choices will increase even more as Rockstar is rolling out two new outfits to choose from - as players make their trek along the Western frontier.

In this DLC, titled the 'Hunting and Trading Outfits Pack,' players will have access to both a Savvy Merchant outfit and an Expert Hunter Outfit. As is the case with many of the other outfits in Red Dead, the player must first complete a set of challenges before gaining access to the new get-ups. Once those challenges are completed, each outfit will grant the wearer an ability that gives them a leg up on the average folk populating the western sprawl.

The Savvy Merchant outfit is perfect for your "shoot first and ask questions later" type of gunslinger, placing a 50% discount on any guns or ammunition they wish to buy. For the true outdoorsman, the Expert Hunter outfit doubles the amount of skins attained from doing a little slice-and-dice action on the local wildlife.

Speaking of wildlife, after downloading the DLC look for a new animal, the Jackalope, to begin making appearances along your merry trails.

To coincide with the DLC will be an update that allows those players who have yet to buy either the 'Liars and Cheats Pack' or the 'Legends and Killers Pack' to see which of their posse members, and enemies, have purchased the DLC - through the characters they have selected.

While it isn’t exactly the 'Undead Nightmare' DLC we have been anxiously waiting for, this Outfits pack has two things going for it: for starters, it’s free - and nobody can say no to a free addition to a great game experience. Second, and more importantly, it further adds to an already rich and involved game. If you were looking for an excuse to head back out on the range - what better way to go out than with some new digs?

What do you think of the 'Hunting and Trading Outfits Pack'? Is it a little treat to tide you over until 'Undead Nightmare' or would you rather have been given a different option?

'The Hunting and Trading Outfits Pack' for Red Dead Redemption will be available October 12th for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
