Few video game protagonists are as likeable as Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan. Despite the fact that his story is very much a tragic one that's carried forward by his inability and unwillingness to adapt to the changing times. Most of his allure comes from the fact that while he is capable of doing good, more often than not, there are times Arthur Morgan became the villain of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, after one fan created a total transformation of the outlaw, a wider community discussion has broken out that examines how having a female protagonist would change the perception of the now-iconic character.
Arthur Morgan is the brooding, ruthless outlaw who stars as the lead of Red Dead Redemption 2. While more often than not he resorts to killing and has very little qualms about doing so, he does express a rather caring and loyal personality to his fellow gang and family members. With all of these alluring qualities in one character, Arthur Morgan has received a lot of stunning art from fans who were awed by his presence. But now, one artist has designed something wholly unique by presenting a different variant of the cold cowboy.
On Reddit, user Duplica1t shared an incredible piece of fan artwork that depicts the titular protagonist but as a female gunslinger. Posting their original transformation besides the default version of what Arthur Morgan looks like, the community was most certainly blown away by the unbelievable Red Dead Redemption 2 fan recreation. The more predominant features of this interpretation include completely removing Arthur Morgan's light stubble, with slight adjustments to the eyebrows to make them much thinner. On top of this, they then give him much longer hair that extends to the shoulders and a much more rounded jawline.
As a result of this creation, Duplica1t's went viral with over 6,000 upvotes plus general acclaim, as fans on the thread seemed to enjoy experiencing a female version of the Red Dead Redemption 2 gang member. While many users cracked jokes and made memes, this art raises the point that despite the list of prosperous narrative-driven games under the developer's belt, gamers will be hard-pressed to find a Rockstar Games' title featuring a female protagonist.
With that said, there are still many strong NPC female characters in several of Rockstar's games, most notably Red Dead Redemption 2's fan-favorite Sadie Adler. As for representations of a playable woman with her own storyline, there is no telling what Rockstar's plans are for the future of the series, though recently one leaker hinted at a female-leading Grand Theft Auto 6.
