[UPDATE: Rockstar Games has now officially released a brand new story trailer introducing protagonist Arthur Morgan for Red Dead Redemption 2. The original article continues below.]

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally slated to arrive this year, but several months ago, Rockstar Games had to push the much-wanted western to a Spring 2018 due date. The resulting move actually hurt the company’s stock, but as 2018 approaches, fans are more than ready to get back in the saddle – which is exactly why the studio is now teasing Red Dead Redemption 2 once again. The company has just released a cryptic tweet that only says Thursday, September 28 at 11AM ET, which is likely when Rockstar Games will announce the game’s new release date.

The tweet is definitely Red Dead related, as it comes slathered in the western’s signature font and color scheme. The studio hasn’t followed up to the tweet, which was evidently meant to tease fans and build up suspense as the big day approaches.

Interested gamers can take a look at the official tweet below:

Take-Two President Karl Slatoff has already made comments establishing that he recognizes how big of a marketplace the PC environment is for the publisher’s games – a strong indicator that Red Dead Redemption 2 may actually see a highly-coveted PC release. The original title never made the transition from console to computer, but if Grand Theft Auto Online has proven anything, it’s that the online game mode can generate seemingly limitless piles of cash for the company via microtransactions, as evidenced by GTA: Online hitting half a billion dollars in revenue last year.

There are also some rumors that the game was delayed to add cross-play functionality, an aspect which would be good for all gamers. While Rockstar Games is likely to remain tight-lipped on what announcement will drop next Thursday, we expect that the multi-platform release date will be the focal point. Although, we wouldn’t be upset if a new trailer jumped on the wagon, too.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for launch in Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the release date possibly being announced this September 28.
