In past games from Rockstar, attire was more or less just a cosmetic choice on the part of the player, but in Red Dead Redemption 2, clothing actually plays a role in the gameplay. Red Dead Redemption 2 players will need to change their clothes to match the weather conditions, meaning they need warm clothes in snowy areas and lighter clothes when exploring hotter parts of the map. Because of this, it's important to have a spare change of clothes stashed on Arthur Morgan's horse at all times for easy access.

Red Dead Redemption 2 players can change their clothes from their horse, but they can also change their clothes from camp. Arthur's clothes are stashed in his tent, and players can go there to cycle through all of the clothing options they have available. This is also where Arthur needs to go in case he loses his hat and players want to get it back.

Updated on March 1, 2023, by Ritwik Mitra: Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest open-world titles ever made. Rockstar absolutely knocked it out of the park with this title, featuring an emotional story, a massive open world, and incredible attention to detail that has become one of Rockstar's strongest points. It helps that players have a ton of freedom when it comes to the many acts that they can perform in the game. Arthur can rack up a sizeable bounty after ravaging the countryside with his antics, engage in memorable interactions with strangers, craft bullets and other such tools to make his journey through the world easier, hunt down animals to gain their resources, and witness one of the many random interactions in the game world that are quite fun in their own right. This is just the tip of the iceberg, with veteran Red Dead Redemption 2 players being well aware of the sheer wealth of content there is in this amazing game.

General Stores and Tailors

Most of the clothing items listed above can be purchased with cash, though buying every outfit is an expensive proposition. Players looking to do so will want to get some extra cash by following treasure maps and selling gold bars. For the most part, players who perform everything there is to do in the game and are diligent about their funds will have more than enough money on their hands to buy all the outfits they want in the game.

Trapper Outfits

Meanwhile, the outfits sold by the trapper have to be crafted by collecting the appropriate animal skins. The main ingredient for each outfit is the skin of a legendary animal, so players will need to go on some challenging hunting trips before they can get all of the clothes in the game. Hunting a legendary animal is one of the most intense and nerve-wracking tasks in Red Dead Redemption 2, and players need to be very careful while hunting these animals to kill them and gain their valuable pelts.

Story Progression

Finally, there are clothing items that can be obtained by just progressing through the story. These outfits are unlocked automatically and can be worn at any time after completing certain missions.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
