Rockstar games' Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting its own, beautifully made, vinyl soundtrack release. The popular cowboy game joins the ranks of other video game series with a vinyl soundtrack, with titles such as Life is Strange and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire having made the leap to 12 inch records in the past.

For the uninitiated, Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2018 to critical and commercial acclaim and has been praised for its immersive world, due in no small part to its original cowboy-centric soundtrack. The game is also known for its amazing graphical feats, and as far as visuals go, the new vinyl release does not disappoint in that regard, either.

Pressed on a splattered, sky blue colored vinyl, the EP contains The Housebuilding Song from Red Dead Redemption 2's epilogue, as well as four additional, original songs. Officially titled The Housebuilding EP, the record is set to be released online from the Rockstar Warehouse website and the Lakeshore Records shop on February 12th, 2021. As was the case with the Pokemon vinyl soundtracks a few years ago, and indeed, most video game soundtracks, the Housebuilding EP is being released in a limited quantity, so fans should act quickly if they want to snatch it up.

While the Zelda Christmas fan album might take the cake for the most unique video game related music release in recent memory, the new Red Dead Redemption 2 EP is unique in its own right. Four of the EP's five songs are previously unheard tracks, meaning that while they were composed for the Rockstar game, they do not appear in the game itself.

The Housebuilding EP is not the first collection of music from Red Dead Redemption 2 to be released. In fact, it's the third. A soundtrack album was released digitally in 2019 featuring songs from Willie Nelson, Josh Homme, and others, and an album featuring the game's original score composed by Woody Jackson was released a few weeks later.

The songs that appear on the Housebuilding EP were made by David Ferguson and Matt Sweeney. The pair may not be household names, but their impressive list of previous collaborators such as Johnny Cash should be enough to convince any sceptics of their abilities to produce a handful of classic country tunes. While there are still plenty of secrets in Red Dead Redemption 2 that many players haven't found, for those who have combed every inch of the frontier landscape, the Housebuilding EP is a chance to experience some new Red Dead Redemption content even the most dedicated of fans haven't had a chance to uncover.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
