It has been a while since Rockstar Games has given players some new gameplay for Red Dead Redemption 2, but today the developer thought fit to whet fans’ whistles with a new trailer. While past trailers have been focused mainly on tone and light introduction, this latest helps give players a better understanding of the story Rockstar is trying to tell.

In the trailer, players can see our main character, Arthur Morgan, wrestling with a life of crime as a member of Dutch's gang. At the turn of the century, Red Dead 2 seems to show what it was like for gunslingers to watch as the age of the Wild West came to a close. Not too fast, though, because there is still a certain individual that ends up joining Dutch's gang, and who we have yet to see in any promotional material. But for now the focus is on Morgan's story, the impressive graphics, and the game world.

If it was any other developer, we might say that this footage is a precursor to a larger demo at E3 2018, but that is likely not the case for Rockstar Games. Even when the developer has a title in active development, like they do now, Rockstar very rarely attends E3 in the traditional sense, by offering live demos or hands-on sessions.

In all reality the next time we see Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t be until right before October when the game is set to release. There will probably be some exclusive press sessions with the game or cover story exclusives, but in all honesty, Rockstar Games doesn’t need to do much to build hype for the game.

The studio knows that fans are looking forward to one of the most popular games from the last generation, and all it needs to do is give them enough of a tease to show what the game will look and play like. In other words, savor this footage for now, because this is probably the last look at Red Dead we will get for a month or two.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases October 26, 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One.
