Even after releasing over three years ago, Red Dead Redemption 2 still remains one of the most technically impressive games currently in circulation. With expansive, detailed environments, numerous distinct landmarks, and high degree of user interactivity, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a lot to offer its players in terms of scale. Now, one user has showcased just how visually stunning the game is.

One of the many staples of Red Dead Redemption 2's open world are the lush, wide landscapes. The countryside areas of Red Dead Redemption 2 aren't just beautiful to look at, but also contain various side activities for players to do. In fact, the majority of stranger missions in Red Dead Redemption 2 can be found by just wandering through the hills. However, the true scale of one of the game's regions has recently been showcased through breathtaking means.

A Reddit user named GAME-LAPSE posted a video of 120 hour in-game timelapse of New Austin condensed down into three minutes. The video does an incredibly good job of conveying just how much work was likely put into making Red Dead Redemption 2 purely from a cosmetic point of view. The way the clouds roll in and out. The way the water moves and reflects the sky above it. The way the lighting is realistically cast. It's all extremely impressive work that players would almost certainly never notice during active gameplay.

The true beauty of this timelapse video is its perspective. Other than the Icarus and Friends mission where Arthur Morgan and Sadie Adler fly a hot air balloon, there's no way for players to really experience the sheer scope of Red Dead Redemption 2's overworld from that vantage. This should hopefully give some fans newfound appreciation for the amount of effort it must have taken to make the game look this way.

In any case, it's amazing to see just how relevant and active Red Dead Redemption 2 remains within the gaming community. Despite being out for over three years, new Red Dead Redemption 2 related fan content continues to surface online. In addition to the timelapse of New Austin, one player actually made a full scale map of Red Dead Redemption 2's game world.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Red Dead Redemption going forward. While the bulk of Red Dead Redemption content has come in the form of Red Dead Online, there have been rumors of a remaster of the original Red Dead Redemption. In fairness, if the upcoming remaster of the Grand Theft Auto trilogy is any indication, then a Red Dead Redemption 1 remaster could be in the works.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
