When Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially announced by Rockstar Games, the developer had originally slated the open world western release to come out at some point during fall 2017, then spring 2018, which later saw the title get delayed further until October of this year. While these postponements may have made many wonder about the possibility of there being another holdup in RDR2's availability, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick promises that its current release date is here to stay.

This much was confirmed by Zelnick during an episode of Mad Money with Jim Cramer, in which the Take-Two head told the show's host that the entire team at Rockstar Games is set to deliver for the current release date of Red Dead Redemption 2. After Cramer asked whether or not it was "risky" to give the game an "explicit date" for launch, Zelnick followed up to say, "Hand on heart, it's October 26."

This most recent pledge from Zelnick in regards to Red Dead Redemption 2's October launch being the date when fans can get their hands on the title echoes the Take-Two CEO's statements from several months ago during the publisher's earnings call. During the meeting, Zelnick vowed that the open world western title won't receive another delay, as he said, "The date of October 26 is set, and I am confident that will be the release date."

Taking all of this into consideration, Red Dead Redemption 2's lengthy development process has understandably caused lots of folks to have concerns about the potential for another setback, but it's a good sign that both Take-Two and Rockstar are expressing confidence in the current release date. That said, one can only hope that the title isn't going to be rushed just to meet the time frame and be released in a bug-riddled state to only be fixed over the course of innumerable post-launch patches.

Of course, Rockstar still has plenty of time to smooth out all of the gameplay before RDR2 goes live later this year, and we hope it gets all the polish and attention from the development team it deserves. After all, it's safe to say that practically everyone sees it as one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated for release on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
