It wasn't long after Red Dead Redemption 2's launch that players managed to glitch into Mexico, a region that they explored in the first game. Now another player, Reddit user Huntroploria, has managed to glitch beyond the game's northern border, discovering a large, unused snow area that was apparently cut from the final release.

This snow area in Red Dead Redemption 2 is notable because, unlike the glitched Mexico area, it actually has some unique geography in the form of frozen lakes and ice walls. Anyone that ventures into this snowy region will also encounter wildlife that can be hunted and skinned, just like the animals found in other parts of the world map.

It's worth pointing out that Huntroploria doesn't appear to be the first person to discover this glitched area in Red Dead Redemption 2, but it wasn't until their Reddit post that it became widely known. A YouTube video posted on November 30 by someone named danwil316 actually shows how to do the glitch, which involves using a method where players hit the invisible wall to the west of Barrow Lagoon, set up camp, and then leave the camp to glitch Arthur over the mountain.

While it's likely that Rockstar never intends to use this area for anything substantial, it's also possible that it could be reserved for future DLC. An audio file datamine has already led some fans to believe that Rockstar could very well be preparing DLC for the critically-acclaimed western, though the studio has yet to announce anything substantial in terms of its post-launch plans for single player.

Unfortunately for anyone holding out hope that Rockstar is going to deliver story DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2, the more likely scenario is that the company is going to focus its efforts on the Red Dead Online multiplayer experience. After all, Grand Theft Auto 5 was once slated to have story DLC, only for the success of GTA Online to see Rockstar focus its efforts entirely on multiplayer instead. Red Dead Online doesn't appear to be the same universal success as GTA Online, but its use of microtransactions will ensure that it is a long term moneymaker compared to the single player mode.

While Red Dead Redemption 2 fans wait for more information on the game's future, they can spend time exploring the open world for more hidden areas like Mexico and the snow area.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
