Rockstar has been steadily releasing more and more content promoting its upcoming western Red Dead Redemption 2 over the last few months, giving gamers glimpses of the new gameplay and mechanics they will encounter as they try to survive the western frontier. Now, Rockstar has released a sneak peek of some new screenshots of the highly-anticipated game, and they look gorgeous.

The screenshots show off some previously unknown characters, as well as a few more peeks at the game's impressive lighting and visuals. There are also a few more action shots of Red Dead Redemption 2 protagonist Arthur Morgan firing weapons and wearing masks.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now just a few weeks away, and it looks like it may be a serious contender for Game of The Year, an impressive feat considering that titles like God of War and Celeste launched this year. Rockstar has confirmed that the game has the largest map the studio has ever created, and every inch of it seems to be incredibly detailed should the released gameplay be representative of the final product.

Rockstar has also confirmed that there will be Red Dead Online, though it won't immediately be available at launch. The mode is set to support up to 32 players and will enter beta in early November. Rockstar has stated that the mode will be an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience from the original title and will blend competitive and narrative gameplay.

Gamers now just have to wait until they can actually get their hands on Red Dead Redemption 2, which many people believe has the potential to revolutionize the open world genre. With an insane amount of wildlife and activities, the game should be able to keep players occupied for quite some time. It's easily one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2018, and has been generating a massive amount of media buzz since its reveal a few years ago. If anything, it should make other games releasing around it a bit fearful for the possibility of the bar being raised.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26th, 2018, for the PS4 and Xbox One.
