Red Dead Redemption 2 has earned high praise for its narrative and characters, particularly when it comes to the likes of protagonist Arthur Morgan and the vengeful widow Sadie Adler. In fact, Sadie Adler may very well be the most popular character from Rockstar's massive open world western, though one fan has perhaps taken his affection for the character a bit too far.

Posting on the Facebook group THE RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 GROUP, Facebook user Jeroen Bekkers claims that his girlfriend broke up with him because he called her Sadie during sex. The Red Dead Redemption 2 fan obviously can't really prove that his story is true, but that hasn't stopped it from gaining traction online, with multiple publications writing about his bizarre predicament.

Accidentally calling your girlfriend by another girl's name is pretty bad, but it's hard to say if it's better or worse to call them the name of a video game character. To make a slip-up like this, Bekkers clearly has spent a great deal of time playing Red Dead Redemption 2, so perhaps excessive game playing also played a role in the couple's break-up.

While most fans may not be taking their adoration for Sadie Adler to quite the same extreme, there's no denying that she has come out of Red Dead Redemption 2 as one of the game's most popular characters. In fact, we even named Sadie one of the best female video game characters of the year, and weren't alone in that praise.

It will be interesting to see if the positive reception for Sadie sees Rockstar Games add a female playable protagonist to one of its future games. The company has been criticized for its portrayal of women in the past, but Sadie definitely seems like a step in the right direction.

If Rockstar does decide to add a female playable character to one of its upcoming games, it's up in the air exactly which game that would be. Rumors indicate that Rockstar's next game will be Bully 2, but others believe that Grand Theft Auto 6 is up next. Whatever the case may be, we likely won't hear news on Rockstar's next project any time soon, as the studio just launched Red Dead Redemption 2 a couple of months ago.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
