Not too long ago, a post on Amazon Mexico pointed to the potential release date of the forthcoming Wild West title, Red Dead Redemption 2, but it looks as if the listing in question is totally incorrect, as Rockstar Games has now stepped forward to officially confirm the launch day for the game. According to the developer, RDR2 is set to become available later this year on October 26, 2018.

Should one click the link found in the tweet below, they will be sent to Rockstar Games' official website, wherein the developer actually apologizes to fans for making them wait so long for Red Dead Redemption 2's official release. The developer writes, "We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish."

For those unaware, Rockstar Games originally promised Red Dead Redemption 2 devotees that the game would have its official launch at some point during spring 2018, but it looks like that just isn't in the cards due to the developer wanting to ensure it has the time needed to put out a quality product. And while many fans may be disappointed to learn that the action-adventure title will be releasing much later than they initially thought, it's safe to presume that those same fans will simply be content with Rockstar finally updating them on the status of RDR2.

There's no question that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most highly anticipated video games in 2018, and Rockstar Games' confirmation of its release date will undoubtedly increase excitement for the title. Nevertheless, such eagerness for the action-adventure's launch won't make it come any sooner. In fact, it might even make the wait between now and October that much more excruciating.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
