With Red Dead Redemption 2's launch just a little more than a week away from today, the anticipation has caused many folks to express interest in the file sizes for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the forthcoming game. Now, in order to prepare players for the amount of space that the open world western title will take up on the two current generation consoles, Rockstar Games has decided to clear the air once and for all by confirming RDR2's download sizes for the systems.

According to the official Rockstar Support page, the amount of space required to install Red Dead Redemption 2 depends on the platform, and the method of installation. The game's physical discs will take up 99 GB of one's hard drive on PlayStation 4 and 107 GB of installation space on Xbox One. When it comes to digital iterations, the PS4 requires 99 GB of space with an additional 50GB for the installation process, while the Xbox One needs 107 GB. Regarding the PS4's digital copy, once installed, the game will take up 99 GB, but the extra 50 GB should be freed up after the installation.

No matter whether or not one gets the a physical or digital copy of Red Dead Redemption 2, the fact of the matter is that the game is going to take up a sizable amount of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hard drives. With this being the case, it looks as if the best route to take to ensure that RDR2 is as close as ready to go on Day One as possible is to pre-order the digital version so as to take advantage of the pre-load period that starts tomorrow.

As many likely expected, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been ranked as one of the most highly anticipated games coming out around the holiday season, so Rockstar's decision to provide players with the exact file sizes required will benefit those looking to dive in as soon as possible. And for many fans, soon simply isn't soon enough.
