Red Dead Redemption 2 is a modern game, but Reddit user Taj-33 got the idea of making a PS1-inspired case for it. The new Red Dead Redemption 2 case created by Taj-33 features the iconic black bar on the spine that fans of the original PlayStation are familiar with. The PS4 logo has also been altered to more closely resemble the original PlayStation logo.
PS1 fans quickly noticed the font that Taj-33 used for the spine of their custom Red Dead Redemption 2 case. The cover art remains mostly untouched from the original Red Dead Redemption 2 art, featuring Arthur Morgan pointing a revolver. The gang that Red Dead Redemption 2 centers around is also included in this custom PlayStation case.
Red Dead Redemption 2 fans who weren't playing games when the original PlayStation released may be confused by its size. Cases for PlayStation and Sega Dreamcast games back then were mostly like CD cases at the time. Video game cases today are larger than the disk contained within, whereas these PlayStation cases were roughly the size of a CD and many still came with game manuals.
Taj-33 says that they are a graphic design student and this Red Dead Redemption 2 case is a fun Summer project that they took on. Taj-33 intends to replace all of their PS4 and PS5 cases with these original PlayStation-inspired cases. Considering Red Dead Redemption 2 the best game of all time, Taj-33 felt it was right to start with the Rockstar Games cowboy simulator.
Clearly a lifelong PlayStation fan, Taj-33 remembers the humble beginnings of the brand while playing modern titles. The Reddit user has also created PlayStation cases for Batman Arkham Knight, Ghost of Tsushima, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Uncharted 4. Taj-33 intends to share the full collection of PlayStation cases of modern titles in the near future.
While many fans of Taj-33's PlayStation-inspired Red Dead Redemption 2 case praised their attention to detail and the creativity behind the idea. One Reddit user quickly went from congratulating Taj-33 for a job well done to insisting they port Red Dead Redemption 2 to the PS1 next. Many fans also lamented the fact that cases have become so much larger than the original PlayStation cases.
