Red Dead Redemption 2 may be releasing on October 26 -- Rockstar did promise no more delays -- but very little has been made known about the highly anticipated sequel. Whether the game will be shown at E3 is still a mystery, but nevertheless, certain early details are beginning to leak. Today, the Xbox storefront pre-order listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 updated with some official information. Pre-orderers through Microsoft's store now know what pre-order bonuses to expect.

According to the now removed listing, included with Microsoft Store pre-orders of Red Dead Redemption 2 are several small pieces of DLC. Funnily enough, not all of the DLC is for Red Dead Redemption 2, as Rockstar wants to reward Grand Theft Auto Online players for being such great fans. Here's everything pre-orderers can expect for their trouble:

  • The War Horse
  • The Outlaw Survival Kit
  • Cash Bonus for Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode
  • Bonus GTA$500,000 in Grand Theft Auto Online
  • Exclusive Treasure Map for Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode *

Note that the exclusive Xbox DLC item, the Treasure Map, is only available until July 31 instead of through launch. The rest of the DLC doesn't appear to have any such limitation on when to pre-order.

Those who played the original Red Dead Redemption may recall that the War Horse was also a piece of pre-order exclusive DLC for the original. It was eventually released as paid DLC, then later made available for free. That horse was a silver dapple black horse with one white sock on its back left leg. It had impressive speed and stamina, making it a great boon. Whether or not Red Dead Redemption 2's War Horse will be similar is anyone's guess.

Certain questions are arising based on the language used to describe Red Dead Redemption 2's pre-order bonuses. Namely, how it specifically notes how some DLC is for Story Mode and how some isn't. Does it imply that the War Horse and Outlaw Survival Kit are pieces of multiplayer DLC? Or is Story Mode meant to help avoid confusion as similar items will be available in multiplayer? Cash makes sense in that regard, but multiplayer Treasure Maps would take some explaining.

Rockstar Games does not traditionally participate in E3, so it's unclear whether or not official details regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 will be revealed at the event. However, the game does have a marketing partnership with Sony and could be shown during the PlayStation E3 press conference as a result. Either way, it's clear Rockstar will share more information soon. There's only so much time left before launch.
